My grand mother is in her 90s and my sister and I cared for her until she could be placed in a senior care center. She had been very independent all her life although it had become clear to us that she needed our help to cope with daily life due to forgetfulness and confusion. When I was in my 20s I worked for years with people that had various physical, mental disabilities in institutional settings and then group homes .
